Health Insurance Reform is Back in the News… Make Sure You Know Your Health Insurance Reform Definitions

The recent survey released by McKinsey and Co. claims that when the health insurance reform goes into full effect, 30% of employers may choose to drop health care coverage for their employees and instead just pay the fine.

Unfortunately, the main purpose of such legislation was to persuade employers to provide health insurance so they would not have to pay the fine. The law goes into effect in 2014 so I guess we will have to wait and see if the survey proves to be true.

Everyone knows that April 15 is tax day, but this year it’s a bit different. Emancipation Day, a holiday commemorating the ending of slavery in the District of Columbia, will be observed in Washington, DC on April 15. So, the date to file or request an extension for federal taxes has been pushed back to Monday, April 18, 2011.

State taxes may be due earlier, though, so double-check to be sure.
