1 in 5 Californians Have No Health Insurance

Just released census figures show that nearly 6.5 million Californians went without health insurance in 2007.

 

The report shows that the highest rates of uninsured residents were in Mono, Colusa and Monterey counties. San Francisco Bay Area counties were on the opposite side of the spectrum.

 

California ranks eighth in the list of states with the fewest insured residents. Texas, New Mexico and Florida were the worst.

Lloyds Banking Group was this week applauded for scrapping sales of much-criticised payment protection insurance (PPI) to customers who borrow money through its mortgages, loans or credit cards. While existing customers with PPI policies will not be affected by the change, anyone approaching Lloyds’ brands, including Lloyds TSB, Halifax, Bank of Scotland and Cheltenham & Gloucester, will not now be offered the cover alongside their accounts.
